We recognize that an important contributor to the long-term success of our students is strong family engagement. 3Point sees the students’ families as members of our team and assets to our program. We see the family as a unit, and we see our caregivers and students holistically. Under the leadership of 3Point’s Family Engagement Coordinator, Chrissy Fernandes, and with the support of multiple partners, 3Point was able to accomplish several key initiatives to strengthen relationships with families in our program and provide them with important support throughout the 2020 year.
3Point partnered with Webster Bank to offer free educational information sessions on important financial issues.
Weekly program updates were sent to caregivers to supplement our program’s curriculum and to provide resources for homework help, food security, financial, mental health and more.
3Point’s classroom coordinators completed over 200 home visits to deliver 3Point kits, school supplies, and grocery gift cards.
In addition to the home visits, 3Point increased weekly communications with caregivers and conducted surveys and virtual focus groups with families’ to obtain program feedback and to increase family participation.
At the end of the fall term, personalized progress letters were sent to students’ caregivers – highlighting each student’s strengths, achievement, and growth demonstrated in the 3Point program.
A special thanks to Thaddeus Miles, MassHousing Director of Community Services, and Keith Marion, Harvard Vanguard Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Department of Population Medicine, for generous donations that provided every 3Point family with a $100 gift card for groceries.
